Transmission Flush vs Change: What Is a Flush?
When a transmission is flushed, the technicians completely drain all the old fluid that’s now become dirty and replace the filter as needed.
Not only is new transmission fluid put in, but a solution is run through the cooler lines to help prevent the transmission from overheating. After a flush, the transmission is cleaner and provides a more effective performance.
What Is a Transmission Fluid Change?
A transmission fluid change is similar to a flush. With a change, the filter is replaced when necessary and the fluid is removed and replaced with new fluid. However, not all of the old fluid is drained.
In general, about 20% to 40% of the old fluid is taken out. As a result, a fluid change can still boost your transmission’s performance since it does remove a lot of the old fluid and replenishes it with new fluid.
When to Have Transmission Fluid Replaced
